Pros: local, had my e-mail forever, know the owners
Cons: can't connect consistently
The Bottom Line: Until something better comes along to the area (such as cable access) I'll still be using this company out of being the "best known evil!"

| manky's Full Review: Gorge Net |
Granted Gorge Net is the ISP my family has been with since we first ever had access to the web, I don't have tons of experience with different ISPs. I'm not at all impressed with AOL (even though I use their Instant Messenger to chat with friends) services, I find them stifling for the more experienced web surfer. I've tried a few others on trial basis and always went back to Gorge Net for convenience.
They are a wide spread local ISP who have been around for a long time. They try hard to keep up with changes in technology, supposedly upgrading consistently. I've had a constant e-mail address with them since 1995, and can't get myself to change it to somewhere else...
My biggest gripe with them is the difficulty in getting consistent access. For example, I have a 56k modem in my new computer, but when I log on to their 56k line all I get is a sputtering connection. I can't seem to get anywhere. So I'm reduced to using the 36 line, yet I still am forced to try to connect at least 4 times before getting an actual connection, only to be kicked off every once in a while for no apparent reason!
