Pros: Price, small and "cute"!

I had this review completely written, bashing almost every aspect of this scanner. But I sat back and thought, "Is it really that bad for what I paid for it?"
All I wanted was a scanner that would allow me to scan photos and email them to people. That's it. Simple, right? And rather than doing my usual shopping around, I went straight to Best Buy and purchased this scanner for $99 with a $40 rebate. "$59 for a scanner?" I thought. "Not bad!"
Well, the scanner does what I need it to do, and it does it adequately. And that's it - it's an adequate scanner. No more, no less. I don't use the scanner for anything other than scanning photos and other items for web pages, so I don't need very high resolution. I'm usually not in any great hurry when I'm scanning something, so the extremely slow scan speed doesn't bother me. The lid seems a little flimsy, but other than that it seems well made. The software that came with the scanner is really nice. PhotoImpact is included on the CD, and I've found that program to be very useful in cleaning up images.
There is a button on the scanner that's supposed to launch the scanning software; it's never worked. The scanning software itself eats up a lot of my RAM, so I have to shut down as many applications as possible when I scan something. (Otherwise, I sit there for fifteen minutes waiting for it to finish scanning.)
Frankly, I got what I paid for. I didn't pay for a high-end, high-resolution, rugged scanner. I paid for a piece of equipment that makes mediocre scans, and that's what I got. Good deal? Well, fair's fair. I'm satisfied.
