The Dark Tower: The Last Installment in the Series

by dramastef dramastef is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Books, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Feb 05 '05
Pros: The long awaited ending has come.
Cons: The long awaited ending has come.
I began reading the seventh and final book in Stephen King’s Dark Tower series with mixed feelings. Of course, as a favorite vampire of mine once said, I wanted to see how it ends. But part of me didn’t want it to end at all. That part ...

The Dark Tower VII - The Tower - Ka_is a wheel a circle_without_end

by susidee34 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Sep 11 '05
Pros: there is a conclusion but no end
Cons: I didn't want to enter the clearing at the end of the path
In the final installment of this series we resume the story with Susannah/Mia in the throes of childbirth, Father Callahan & Jake following her path trying to save her, and Eddie & Roland wandering the woods of Maine after meeting up with the word ...

The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower, by Stephen King

by cdm72 cdm72 is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Books, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Oct 16 '04
Pros: The quest for the Dark Tower is finally at an end.
Cons: The quest for the Dark Tower is finally at an end.
There was a point at which Roland was only a few days’ walk from the Tower, the end of his long journey, but he wasn’t ready to go yet. He’d been seeking the Tower so long, he wasn’t ready to be done yet. When I got to the last 60 pages, that’s how I ...

The Dark Tower's weak conclusion

by phungus Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Dec 21 '06
Pros: It all comes to head...
Cons: It's not worth it!
When I started reading Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series a few years ago, I never thought it would have grown to the phenomenon that it did. There are now companion books to go along with this series because it’s so expansive and references so ...

And all good things must come to an end...

by sampo24 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 16 '04
Pros: IT'S FINALLY OVER! And King does a great job of wrapping things up.
Cons: It took too damn long to reach the end of the series
My own personal quest to reach the end of the Dark Tower series may not have been quite as memorable as Roland's, but it certainly was a long, frustrating trip. I remember picking up The Gunslinger when I was in high school over fifteen years ago and ...

Not Perfect, but Right

by lynnzop Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 07 '06
Pros: Ending is satisfying, when King is good, he's very good. And he's good here.
Cons: Rough start, but don't give up if you've invested time in the series.
The ending is not perfect, but it's right. After investing over 20 years of my life in the plot, places and people that make up the tale of Roland Deschain's quest for the Dark Tower, I've finally read the concluding chapter. And, unlike ...

"Childe Roland to The Dark Tower FINALLY Came"

by barongreenback , Feb 09 '06
Pros: Suitable ending, Roland remains a fascinating hero.
Cons: Impossible to write the perfect ending for avid fans such as myself.
The story so far… Roland of Gilead the last in a long and revered line of true Gunslingers is finally nearing the end of his quest to reach The Dark Tower and save it from The Crimson King. If he fails The Dark Tower is destroyed all worlds ...

King Ends His Tower, Say Thank Ya.

by grandpa_riot , Nov 24 '04
Pros: great moments, satisfying overall, end
Cons: interpolations, King's 'accident'
Stephen King's fantasy series of The Dark Tower started some time in the late 70's. What started as an idea soon grew into a series, eventually containing 7 books. It took about 27 years for it to happen, but the series is finally complete! I ...

The quest is over... but is it?

by coffeedrink88 , Feb 21 '05
Pros: Ka is a wheel
Cons: Ka is a wheel (you'll understand when you finish)
I am a huge Stephen King fan so I read the Gunslinger and then "The Drawing of the Three" and I thought both were good books both as a series and just as stand alone novels, but it wasn't until the third book that I became hooked on the series and knew I ...

The final chapter ...

by jamiebee , Dec 06 '07
Pros: Well-written and thought-provoking.
Cons: None.
I must admit, I didn't start out as a huge fan of the "Gunslinger" series ... the first book just didn't do much for me. However, as time went on and the characters started to evolve, I became more and more hooked. This book is probably the best out of ...

One book to bring it all together

by Lovrlylook , Jun 06 '08
Pros: Good use of imagination
Cons: Took him 20 years to write 7 books
I don't know about you, but I have been reading this series for about 10 years now. I have been waiting for it to all come together. Stephen King, once again is a genius when it comes to writing! He not only has managed to tie two worlds together, but ...

Calling out the names of my Fathers
by angeraci ,Nov 19 '05
Pros: Excellent story!
Cons: Do not enter the Tower. Do not enter the Tower. Do not enter the Tower.
The last installment of King's greatest tale, one of the finest stories in literary history, is as nail-biting as ever. The story is excellent, and King ties up loose ends. I don't want to spoil anything, so i will leave it at this; do not, repeat, DO NOT! enter the Tower. King leaves this option up to you, the constant reader, at the end, to just stop, or to continue into the Tower. Enter at your own risk. I do not write this to entice reading the las few pages but to warn. In those last pages King has ruined the story for me and all of those who I have talked to. It should just end when Roland calls out the names of his fallen compatriots.
