I called to have the Dish Network installed at my new home. An installer came out to my property unannounced and with no one present. Left a note on the yard refusing to set it up due to obstructed view by trees. He could not even spell the word "due" correctly. Though there are trees, several sections of the yard offer full southern view. The inspector refused our service. I spent three valuable hours on the phone explaining that there was a clear view and Dish Network refused to some back out and evaluate the property. Despite the fact that they have equipment to get around any obstructions, they continued to refuse. The customer service was rude and completely unhelpful. I went straight to Direct TV. I recommend anyone else do the same.

These scumbags have been sued by 13 State Attorney's General and they still pull the same crap. You CANNOT cancel your subscription. They DO NOT respond to e-mails. If you call to cancel they will switch you to a hundred different people, "Oh I can't take this call, you'll have to talk to Bob over in that department." Then they keep sending you bills. Then they turn it over to a collection agency. Then they report it to the credit agencies. These bastards should ALL be put in jail. I have NEVER dealt with a bigger bunch of crooks in my life.

The dish and box are ok. The company has the worst customer service i have ever encountered. I would definitely go with direct TV or comcast anyday.


The initial fee is nonrefundable.
The installers are overworked or undertrained. They also did not have the correct equipment when they came.

To return equipment you have 15 days from cancellation. They send boxes which take 2-3days to arrive.
The techs will not come back out to put the system back together again, you will need to do that yourself.
If the techs come back you will be charged over 100 dollars.

If you have trouble in the future they will charge you for any service. 'trouble call" service which can be up to 199 dollars.
The other problems are just too long to list.

I am happy with the programming. But, dealing with their customer support is painful. I have paid my bill regularly every month on-line. This month it was kicked back saying that the checking account number was incorrect. Same # as I have always used. On top of this I was charged an additional $10 to reprocess. I tried to talk to the CS agent and see what acct # was used? Can't do that. I asked if they could reverse the charges? Can't do that. Could you ask your supervisor? No, can't do that. Fine. Hung up. Two days later my service is disconnected. I try to pay on-line but their web login is down. Call them back. Now I get to pay the $10 reprocessing fee, $25 reactivation fee, and if I want to pay over the phone I get charged an additional $5. Screw them. Going back to Comcast.

Hideous customer service abounds at Dish Network, a company entirely populated by incompetents. They will screw you over time and again. Thats a fact!

My Receiver dies 3 WEEKS ago, and I am still awaiting a replacement. I pay a monhtly in-home service fee in case anything goes wrong. Well, I just found out that I have been paying this fee for years for no apparent reason. After 6 different calls to surly customer service reps in India, the replacement receiver is not only not here, it has yet to be ORDERED, let alone sent out.

Pros: Easy to use, including nice free DVR upgrade. No cost try, with free return.
Cons: Poor quality picture, especially on live sports programs. Quality acceptable on other programs.

Got DISH network, and after one week of viewing poor quality sports programs, sent everything back. Returned to basic cable, with much better picture quality, although higher costs (~$15/month more). The quality on live sports programs reminded me of how TV looked 30 years ago.

I signed up for Dish Network almost a year ago and signed the contract for 18 mths of service which was a HUGE mistake! Actually signing up with Dish Network is a HUGE MISTAKE! The customer service sucks!!! I have never had such POOR service in my life!! I originally received 120 channels for 29.95 a month which they continued to mischarge me for (almost $100.00 a mth) I am now on the family channel plan for min. channels and still being billed at least $50 a mth. I have had the wrong equipment delivered twice and when they were supposed to show up the third time to exchange what they originally messed up on the tech never showed. They have CONTINUED to bill me for the wrong equipment they gave me and still have not resolved the issue. In the meantime I have spend OVER 20 hours in phone calls, tech visits, emails and have NOT even come close to having my bills corrected. I CANNOT STAND THIS COMPANY!! I WARN YOU TO NOT SIGN UP FOR DISH!!!
