Pros: Good performances... Cons: lost in a celluloid sea of style
In 480 BC, a band of 300 Spartans went to battle at the cliffs of Thermopylae against a Persian army estimated at one million soldiers in one of the most famous battles of ancient civilization. The movie 300 of the fight they made for their land ...
Pros: action packed film based loosely on a great historical event Cons: some parts of this movie seem to be borrowed from other works
The story of 300 free Spartans making a stand against the million man slave army of Persian king Xerxes in the battle of Thermopylae is one of the great underdog stories of world history. The Spartans fight for their independence and way of life speaks ...
Pros: Digital Effects are amazing
No Big Name Actors
Big Screen Movie Cons: Not historically accurate
Some scenes seemed overcut, like something is missing
So, what can be said. 300 men holding off an Army of 100 of thousands of men. Good winning over Evil. Right vs Wrong. Great men betrayed by the ungreatful. Love, Lust, and a beautiful dance by a half naked redhead. All this and more thrown together ...
Pros: Captures your attention, Good special effects Cons: Too gory for youngsters
I loved it! It's gory (as though you can't see THAT in the previews) but it is still awesome. Not much of a thinking movie, the storyline is pretty simple. 300 Spartans go up against an army of hundreds of thousands to fight for their country and ...
During my spring break vacation I was able to watch 300. It is a wonderful movie that retells an epic event. It is retelling the ancient battle of Thermopylae where King Leonides(Gerard Butler) take 300 of his finest Spartan men to fight against ...
Pros: A visual spectacle, highly entertaining, and inspirational. Cons: Not a recommended reference for a undergraduate essay!
The classics seem to be enjoying a resurgence in popular culture of late, from television: the HBO/BBC series Rome; to entertainment: the Total War series on the PC platform, or God of War on the Playstation; to movies: 300, which will be reviewed ...
I was a fan of Gladiator, Troy, LOTR etc, but this movie was pretty LAME. The only thing it had going for it was the battles were kinda cool, but it was really nothing new. The dialog was terrible, story line was kinda lame. How many heads can be cut off in one movie anyway? AND what happened to that huge mutant anyway... the guy with nipple piercings and blades for fore arms? They introduced him and I was expecting another "boss" battle, but it never happened. WTF?
Artistically I thought it was inconsistent. Sometimes I thought it was a complete rip-off of Gladiator (similar classic style music and videography), then they decide to throw in current hard rock music. Then when the movie is over (woohoo!), they introduce a completely different style with the whole cartoony/graphic novel stuff. Again, WTF?
I think they spent too much time trying to make it look cool and appeal to young men, and forgot to pay attention to detail.
Pros: Top graphic mega picture Cons: Needed a little better story line
OK I won't bore you with the story, everyone else has already done a good job of telling it... however, if you want a graphic mega picture with awesome battle scenes this is the movie of the year hands down. I would honestly say you should see this movie just for that alone. The movie is NOT BORING you will be glued second by second to your seat, I saw nobody moving around after the action started (which is almost immediately) and there is a weak story line. This movie does a good job of moving your emotions as you find yourself in awe of the 300 spartans taking a stand against impossible odds in the name of freedom! Hey, come on it's only $7 bucks to see but you'll get $300 worth of eye candy.
